The WAT Franklin Plus® Lightning Rod with Early Streamer Emission (ESE) technology is designed to provide superior lightning protection by generating an upward stream of ionized particles, effectively creating a safe and controlled path for lightning to discharge.

During a thunderstorm, as atmospheric electrical potential increases, a difference in electric potential (Δt) develops between components of the system:
The air terminal tip and deflection ensemble are at the same potential as Earth.
The discharger matches the potential of the surrounding air.
As this difference in potential increases, so does the risk of a lightning strike. By harnessing this Δt value, the WAT Franklin Plus® rod can anticipate and intercept a lightning strike earlier and farther away from the protected structure.
This early capture allows us to:
